On May 10th, Spotify has ejected R. Kelly and XXXTencion’s music from their top playlists due to their new “hate content and hateful conduct” policy. Although, the two artists’ discographies is still available.
The #TimesUp movement reached out to Spotify, Apple Music, RCA, and Ticketmaster to participate its efforts to “mute” R.Kelly. Spotify decided to make the first move. However, the company’s new policy has caused controversy in the music industry; even their top executives were shocked about it.
