Is The Mechanical Royalties Issue Fixed? | MUSIK !D TV NEWS

The National Music Publishers Association, Digital Media Association, numerous songwriters, and record label groups are bargaining a constitution that they believe can clear up the mechanical licensing issues that have afflicted music services.
“I want a consensus bill, one that is negotiated by our community, including publishers and songwriters, the record labels and artists, DiMA and the broadcasters.” – David Israelite, CEO, and President of NMPA
Israelite declared that the deal wouldn’t spread the surveillance of the necessary licenses, neither will it profit other music rights. If music labels want to utilize the suggested licensing structure, they would have to purchase full statutory rates, and they wouldn’t be allowed to use controlled composition clause.
