Fresh Music Friday: Julian Write - Chasin' A Bag

Get a short glimpse of Julian Write's life with his latest single "Chasin' A Bag."

Find out more about the Los Angeles-based rapper's inspiration behind the track and the advice he has for budding emcees.

MUSIK !D TV: From lyrics to production tell us the inspiration behind " "Chasin' A Bag?"

JULIAN WRITE: The song was inspired by life, as is every song I make. I wanted to tell my narrative inside of a concept that i believe everyone can relate to. A lot of people are pursuing their dreams and ambitions and i just wanted to create a soundtrack for them to do that to.

MIDTV: Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you get your start in the music industry?

JW: I’m just a small town working class, mexican-american kid who loves to create. I got started unintentionally through some friends that i went to school with and it sucked me in from there.

MIDTV: What has your musical journey been like for you so far?

JW: It’s been a process. It’s been a journey. It’s been a struggle. And it’s been therapeutic.

MIDTV: What advice would you give budding rappers/producers about the music industry especially when it comes to hip-hop?

JW: I would tell them to stay patient, think long term, build a team, control what you can control, and have sickening work ethic.

MIDTV: What do you hope listeners will take away from your new album Privileged?

JW: The main take away I want people to get is to think about what they have instead of what they don’t, then to make the most of it.

MIDTV: Where can people find updates on upcoming tours, new music, appearances, etc.?

JW: The two best places are instagram (@JulianWrite) and youtube, same channel name.
